Several revelations in the early church called particular individuals to be missionaries, typically assigning them to labor in specific regions. Though the location of his service was to be at his discretion, teenager Stephen Burnett
subsequently copied this revelation into Revelation Book 1, where it is designated “A Revelation given Hiram Portage County Ohio March 17. 1832”. (The “1” in “ March 17” appears to be a later addition.) The 1835 Doctrine and Covenants included this revelation, giving the date of March 1832 but no location.
