  • Made 5th Day of May 1834 John Johnson to Joseph Smith Jr  Presidant of the Church of Christ organized on the 6 Day of April  1830 in the township of Fayett and was called the Church of  Latter Day saints by a Conferance of the Elders of the said  Church Assembled in the township of Kirtland on the 3d day  of May 1834 in trust for the use and purposses hereinafter  mentioned they of thear part Wittenesseth Viz on the first  part for the sum of two hundred and twenty two Dollars  thirty Cents/ to Joseph Smith Jr and succesor in office  of President of the aforesaid Church and all the estate  right title interest property Clame and demand whatsoever  ether in Law or Eq[u]ity \to have and to hold &cc to Joseph  Smith Jr President of the Church aforesaid and his  succesor in office forever in trust for the use of the  members of the Church aforesaid according to the Articles  and Covenents of said Church and to Joseph Smith Jr  John Johnson and wife warants to defend and &cc  to Joseph Smith Jr President of said Church and  his succesor in office appointed according to the  Articles and Covenents of the Church aforesaid  against the clames
