<Stephen Markham  to  Joseph Smith  for  8½ L 2 in  Block 8 in  Hiram [Hyrum] Smiths  addition to Nauvoo>
This Indenture made and entered into, This Twenty Eighth day of February  in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty Two between  Stephen Markham and Hannah his wife, of the county of Hancock and State  of Illinois, of the one part, and Joseph Smith Trustee in Trust for the Church  of Jesus christ of Latter Day Saints of the county of Hancock and State afore said, of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said Stephen Markham and  Hannah his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred  Dollars, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged,  do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said Joseph  Smith, Trustee in Trust his assigns and successors in office forever, all that  tract or parcel of Land, situate and being in the county of Hancock in   the State of Illinois, viz: The East half of Lot N0. Two (2) in Block eight  (8) in Hiram Smiths addition to Nauvoo, as recorded on said Platt,  Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging  or in anywise appertaining To Have and To Hold the above described [p. 87]
