will raise a  sum suffcient for the A.D. 1838. We reccommend that  the Elders also circulate copies of the subscription paper accom panying this report so that all who are willing to thithe  themselves may have an opportunity of manifesting  their generosity.
We are of the opinion that if any are not willing  to comply with the mode above pointed untill a better  one is suggested of raising the means to meet the necessary  expences of the church: they must to say the least of them  be considered weak in the faith and also under the influence  of covetousness to that degree that their case must be considered  hopeless unless they repent: for the scripture informs us  that a covetous man who is an idolator hath any part  in the kingdom of God:
To close we are of the opinion that this report and subsc ription paper should not be circulated to obtain funds beyond  the bounds of what is attached to this stake of Zion.  neither should the funds raised be expended out of the bounds  of the same

We the undersigned subscribers feeling a deep interest in the  prosperity of the church of Latterday Saints. and believeing that  the prosperity of the church; in some degree depends upon  our providing a fund for the purpose of defraying the expen ces of the church; In assisting the poor, in remunerating  the officers of the church for the time <which> they are necessarily  employed in doing the business of the same: in building  houses of publick worship and all such other expences as shall  be deemed necessary by the authorities of the church for the  good of the same.
