    Know all men by these presents  that we Joseph Smith Jr and Sidney Rig don do hereby appoint and constitute Oliver  Granger our proper agent and attorney  to act in our name to all intents and  purposes as we ourselves could do if we  were personally present: to manage con duct and bring to settlement a business  which we have with J F Scribner of  Tory [Troy] city in the State of New york  in relation to the paper of Kirtland safe ty society
