A few weeks after Sidney Rigdon’s baptism in fall 1830 in Ohio, Edward Partridge journeyed with Rigdon, his friend and former minister, to New York to visit JS. The pair arrived in early December 1830. This revelation is directed expressly to Partridge.

View Full BioJohn Whitmer copied this text into Revelation Book 1 as “39th Commandment Decm 9th AD 1830” sometime between March and June 1831. An unknown scribe (possibly Christian Whitmer) made a copy of this revelation sometime in May or June 1831, only a portion of which is extant. The 1833 Book of Commandments dates this revelation to December 1830 at Fayette Township, New York, as does the 1835 Doctrine and Covenants.
