Like others before him, he sought to understand his role in advancing the work, resulting in this revelation. The revelation itself does not mention Knight by name, though he is identified in the published version heading simply as “Joseph (K).”
Though included in the 1833 Book of Commandments, this text is not recorded in the earlier record, Revelation Book 1. The source used for the preparation of the text as it appears in the 1833 Book of Commandments is not known.
