Biography

Ca. 1798–1887. Basket maker. Born in Ohio. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and ordained an elder, before 1831. Moved to Indiana, by 1831. Disciplined at church conference at Winchester, Randolph Co., Indiana, and subsequently reordained an elder, Nov.–Dec. 1831. Attended special conference held at Big Blue settlement, Kaw Township, Jackson Co., Missouri, Sept. 1832. Moved to Missouri, by 1834. Received elder’s license, 8 Dec. 1837, in Far West, Caldwell Co., Missouri. Moved to Iowa Territory, by 1842. Received elder’s license, 7 May 1842, in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois. Moved to Brown Co., Illinois, by June 1850. Became blind because of a fever, between 1850 and 1860. Married Elizabeth Sams, 7 May 1858, in Lick Creek, Davis Co., Iowa. Moved to Green, Wapello Co., Iowa, by June 1860. Moved to Swan, Taney Co., Missouri, by June 1880. Died in Taney Co.
