3 Nov. 18071–8 Dec. 1861.2 Farmer, teacher, doctor.3 Born at Pomfret, Windsor Co., Vermont.4 Son of John Johnson and Alice (Elsa) Jacobs.5 Lived at Hiram, Portage Co., Ohio, when baptized into LDS church by JS, 10 May 1831.6 Ordained a priest by Christian Whitmer shortly after baptism.7 Ordained an elder, by Oct. 1831.8 Ordained a high priest by Oliver Cowdery, 25 Oct. 1831, at Orange, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio.9 Served missions to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Kentucky, 1831–1833.10 Married first Susan Harminda Poteet, 1 Nov. 1833, in Cabell Co., Virginia (later in West Virginia).11 Appointed to high council, 17 Feb. 1834, at Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio.12 Participated in Camp of Israel expedition to Missouri, 1834.13 Member of Quorum of the Twelve, 1835–1837.14 Served mission to eastern states, 1835, and to New York and Upper Canada, 1836.15 Constable in Kirtland.16 Disfellowshipped, 3 Sept. 1837.17 Reinstated to church and membership in Quorum of the Twelve, 10 Sept. 1837.18 Excommunicated, 1838.19 Taught school in Virginia and also studied medicine, which he practiced at Kirtland.20 Rebaptized into LDS church by Orson Hyde, 8 Mar. 1846, at Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois.21 Wife died, 1846.22 Married second America Morgan Clark, Mar. 1847.23 Member of Brigham Young pioneer company to Salt Lake Valley, 1847.24 Moved to St. John, Tooele Co., Utah Territory, 1858.25 Bishop at St. John.26 Died at Salt Lake City.27
