Biography

9 Sept. 1807–9 Oct. 1881. Born at Pompey, Onondaga Co., New York. Son of Henry McKown and Elizabeth Rounds. Married first Phebe Weston of Freeport, Cumberland Co., Maine. Lived at Farmersville, Cattaraugus Co., New York, 1830. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by Dec. 1835. Lived at Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois, 1840. Married second Susan Ann Lamoreaux Brunelle. Ordained an elder, by 1844. Appointed to serve in New York, 15 Apr. 1844. Lived at Yelrome (Morley’s Settlement), Hancock Co., Illinois, 1845. Ordained a high priest, by Jan. 1846. Moved to Iowa City, Johnson Co., Iowa, by 1850; to Ingraham, Mills Co., Iowa, by 1860; and to Anderson, Mills Co., by 1870. Died in Mills Co.
