8 Jan. 18051–28 Nov. 1878.2 Laborer, clerk, storekeeper, teacher, editor, businessman, lawyer, judge.3 Born at Oxford, New Haven Co., Connecticut.4 Son of Nathan Hyde and Sally Thorpe.5 Moved to Derby, New Haven Co., 1812.6 Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, 1819.7 Joined Methodist church, ca. 1827.8 Later affiliated with reformed Baptists (later Disciples of Christ or Campbellites).9 Baptized into LDS church by Sidney Rigdon and ordained an elder by JS and Sidney Rigdon, Oct. 1831, at Kirtland.10 Ordained a high priest by Oliver Cowdery, 26 Oct. 1831.11 Appointed to serve mission to Ohio, Nov. 1831, in Orange, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio.12 Baptized many during proselytizing mission with Samuel H.
