Ca. 1801–26 Apr. 1854. Preacher, trader. Born in Kentucky. Married Elizabeth Warren, 4 May 1824, in Howard Co., Missouri. Became Cumberland Presbyterian priest. Moved to Dorenda Creek, Carroll Co., Missouri, by June 1840. Conveyed merchandise from St. Louis to Mexico (later in California), beginning 1847. Granted Masonic charter to form Western Star Lodge No. 98 in Benton City (later in Benton Co.), California, 10 May 1848. Founded Leodocia (later Red Bluff), Colusa Co., California, 1850. Returned to Carroll Co., summer 1850. Returned to Benton City, by May 1851. Moved to Shasta City (near present-day Redding), Shasta Co., California, after May 1851. Moved to Crescent City, Klamath Co., California, Mar. 1853. Died at Crescent City.
