Lyon, Windsor Palmer

Biography

8 Feb. 1809–Jan. 1849. Physician, druggist, merchant. Born at Orwell, Addison Co., Vermont. Son of Aaron Child Lyon and Roxana (Rocksey) Palmer. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1832, in New York. Lived at Willoughby, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, 1835–1836, where he owned a store. Owned land in Far West, Missouri, 1836. Married Sylvia Porter Sessions, Mar. 1838, at Far West. Moved to Hancock Co., Illinois, by Feb. 1841. Lived in Nauvoo Fourth Ward, 1842, at Nauvoo, Hancock Co. Appointed aide-de-camp to major general in Nauvoo Legion, June 1842. Opened drug and variety store at Nauvoo. Ordained a high priest, by 3 Feb. 1846. Moved to Johnson Co., Iowa Territory, by Nov. 1846. Resided at Iowa City, Johnson Co., 1848. Died at Iowa City.
