17 Oct. 17881–23 Feb. 1851.2 Physician, druggist, farmer, editor.3 Born at Wells, Rutland Co., Vermont.4 Son of William Cowdery and Rebecca Fuller.5 Married Patience Simonds, 22 Sept. 1814, in Pawlet, Rutland Co.6 Moved to Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., New York, 1816.7 Became first town postmaster of Freedom, 1824.8 Baptized into LDS church, 1834.9 Appointed presiding elder of church at Freedom, 25 Nov. 1834.10 Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, Feb. 1836.11 Involved in managing bookbindery and printing office in Kirtland.12 Assisted in writing dedicatory prayer delivered by JS in Kirtland temple, 1836.13 Editor of LDS Messenger and Advocate and clerk to JS, 1836–1837.14 Served on Kirtland high council, 1837.15 Became disaffected with church leadership, 1838.16 Served as justice of the peace, 1838–1840.17 Served as election judge in Kirtland, 1841–1842.18 In 1850, farmed at Kirtland.19 Died at Kirtland.20
