Hosanna

Summary

An exclamation of praise or an appeal for deliverance used in traditional Jewish and Christian worship. JS revelations instructed the Saints to shout hosanna in praising God. In early 1836, official members shouted hosanna to seal the ordinances and rituals they performed in preparation for the 30 March solemn assembly and the promised endowment of power in the House of the Lord in Kirtland, Ohio. During the March 1836 dedication of the House of the Lord, those in attendance shouted hosannas in unison. On 30 March 1836, at the solemn assembly in the House of the Lord, those in attendance shouted hosanna to seal the covenant, prophecies, and blessings given on that occasion. In a solemn assembly in April 1837, the ordination of presidents of the Seventy was sealed with a shout of hosanna. See also “” and “.”
