Latter-day Saint Offensive in Daviess County

Perceiving that civil and militia authorities would not uphold the law, Latter-day Saint vigilantes launched preemptive strikes at centers of opposition to Latter-day Saints, burning buildings owned or used by antagonists and others, confiscating goods as wartime appropriations, seizing a cannon intended to be used against Saints, and expelling opponents and others from Daviess County, Missouri.
