This agreement made and entered into this twenty third day of December A. D. 1840 between Joseph Smith and of the County of and State of Illinois of the one part and Henry Moore of the County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth, that the said Henry Moore for and in Consideration of an order drawn by of , on Robert B Burk of Willamstown Oswego Co N. Y. in favor of Joseph Smith, and <or order> for one hundred and fifty dollars and payable at Sight, agrees to let the Said Joseph Smith have the use of the house and lot owned by the said Henry Moore situate in as aforesaid, and the said Henry Moore also agrees to pay to the said Joseph Smith his heirs or assigns the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars on or before the 23rd day of September A. D 1841 with interest for the same to from this date. An
And the said Joseph Smith agrees with the said Henry Moore his heirs and assigns to give up possession of the said House and Lot, in as good Condition as it is at present when the said Henry Moore shall pay the above named sum of One hundred and fifty dollars with the interest as aforesaid.
It is further agreed upon that this articles shall be a lein on the above mentioned house and lot until the above sum be paid. [p. [1]]
