KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That I, Joseph Smith as Sole Trustee in Trust, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, of the county of and State of , am held and firmly bound unto John Steed of the county of and the State of his heirs and assigns in the sum of four hundred —— dollars, for the payment of which, well and truly be made, I bind myself, my successors in officeheirs, and assigns, firmly by these presents.
NOW THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH, That whereas, the said Joseph Smith as Sole Trustee in Trust for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, hath this day sold unto the said John Steed—— a certain lot of ground, situated, lying, and being in the county of and State of , and described as follows to wit:
the West half of the South West quarter, of the South East quarter, of section number twenty six in Township 7 North of Range 8 West and received in payment for said land the sum of one hundred and forty five dollars and fifty cents. Also——
And received in payment for saidOne notes of hand bearing even date herewith, for the sum of Fifty four 50/100 —— dollars, and payable as follows, with interest on or before the first day of January A. D. 1844——
The interest for each and every note to be paid annually.
Now, if said John Steed, his—— heirs, executors, or administrators shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid, the amount of said note with such interest as may accrue thereon, according to the tenor and effect thereof, when due, I the said Joseph Smith as Sole Trustee in Trust etc. bind myself my successors in office,heirs, executors administrators and assigns, to make, or cause to be made, to the said John Steed—— his heirs and assigns, a good and sufficient Deed for the above described lot on or before the first day of January A. D. 1844 and then this shall become null and void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. Given under my hand and seal this seventeenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and forty- four
