This article of agreement had, made, and agreed upon by and between Messrs Joseph Smith Jr and all of Hancock County in the State of Illinois of the first part and of the State of of the second part— Witnesseth that the party of the second part hereby binds himself his heirs, executors, and administrators and assigns well and truly to pay or cause or procure to be well and truly paid unto the party of the first part; the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars as follows viz Two hundred and twenty five dollars within ten years from the date hereof— And another equal sum of Two hundred and twenty five dollars within twenty years from the date hereof— both sums to bear interest at six per cent— payable annually on the eighteenth day of September of each year untill the principal shall be paid The first years interest to be paid one year from the date hereof.
The party of the first part hereby bind them selves, their heirs, executors, and adminstrators, and assigns in consideration of the fulfilment of the above obligation by the party of the second part, to make and execute or cause or procure to be made and executed unto the said party of the second part, a good and sufficient warantee deed in fee simple of all that certain tract, piece or parcel orparcel of land— known and denominated as being Lot Number three in Block number eighty two of the Town of in the county of Hancock— in the State of Illinois containing by admeasurement one hundred and thirty two rods.
In Witness whereof the parties above mentioned have hereunto set their hands and seals this eighteenth day of September One thousand eight hundred and thirty nine.
