Know all men that I of Hancock County Ill in consideration of one hundred and fifty Dollars paid me by of aforesaid have sold and transferd to him the following property (viz) one span of horses one set of harnesses being the same that said sold to me, one horse light cream colour one mare yellow 5 years old all now in my possession the receipt I do hereby acknowledge for the above property
Condition
Whereas I have heretofore that is to say mad[e] an agreement by written instrument & otherwise by contract verbal with said to find furnish materials & build a house in City of for said now if I perform said contract as agreed on my part then said horses & harnesses are to be mine otherwise said is to have full & lawful possession & Subject to his controll in for ever, a non performance of any part of the contract on my part togethe[r] with full & legal claim for all Damage & disappointments. If I on my part perform said Agreement according to the tenor of the same then this instrument to be nul and void otherwise to remain in full force and effect
