To Brig[adier]r General of the 2nd Cohort .
I prefer the hereby prefer the following charge against Captain of the 2nd Company 2nd Battalion 1st Reg[imen]t 2nd Cohort N. L.

For unofficer and ungentlemanly like conduct and for neglecting and refusing to do his duty
Specifications
1st In this that he obtained leave of me to quit his post under the pretence of being sick and got drunk and acted unbecoming an officer and a gentleman and greatly anoyed the first Regiment and the Band while on duty on the Legion parade last September.
2nd In this that he preemtorily refused to present his delinquent list to the Court of assessment in the first Regiment 2nd Cohort Nauvoo Legion— for <all> the last Sepember parades after the said Court had met the 2nd time for the want of said list being presented at the first meeting of said Court, thereby depriving the Legion of the use of the fines of his company.
3rd In <this> that he willfully and knowingly lied by denying that he had any delinquents in his company (this was done at the 2nd meeting of the said court which met expressly to act upon the delinquents of his Company).
4th In this that he insulted and abused the Second meeting of the said Court.
