Coun. presented the report of the committee appointed to raise means for the Western Mission, which was read.
Coun. made some remarks on the items necessary for the mission. He was in favor of the report being accepted and the committee continuing their labors.
Coun. said that during the investigation of this subject his views of the mission had in some degree changed. These men will have to pass through the whole western country, and can stay but a very short time in a place and they will have but little opportunity of ascertaining a knowledge of the country, and it is a question whether they will be able to add any thing to the information already published by travellers.
