This Indenture, made, and entered into, this nineteenth day of February, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty two, between and Betsy Ann [Chase Eldredge] his wife, of the County of , and State of , of the one part, and Joseph Smith, Trustee in Trust for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of the county of , and the aforesaid, of the other part Witnesseth, that the said , and Betsy Ann his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of seventy five dollars, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknownledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said Joseph Smith, Trustee in Trust his successors in office and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of , in the State of , viz: one acre of the South East corner of the east end of the South half of the North West quarter of Section thirty six Township seven North and nine West of the base line and fourth principal Meridian: the above named one acre commencing at the South East corner of the aforesaid Lot, and runs West Ten rods, thence North sixteen rods, thence East Ten rods, thence South sixteen rods to the place of beginning. Together with all and singular the appurtencances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said Joseph Smith, his successors in office and assigns forever. And the said and Betsy Ann his wife, their heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said Joseph Smith, his successors in office and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
