This Indenture, made and entered into, this thirty first day of January in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty four between and his wife, of the county of , and State of Illinois, of the one part, and the city of of the county of Hancock and State aforesaid, of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said and his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said city of forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of , in the State of Illinois: viz: commencing sixty six feet South of the N.E. [northeast] corner of Lot four (4) in block one hundred and fifty one (151) thence N 72 Deg[rees] W[est] 12 Rods 20½ links to a post, thence South 64 feet, thence South 72 Deg. E. 12 R 20½ Links, thence North 64 feet to the place of begining, Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said City of for a publick Street forever. And the said and his wife, their heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said City of , against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof the said and his wife of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year first above written.
