This Indenture, Made, and entered into, This Sixth day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty one, between and Susan his wife, of the county of and state of , of the one part, and Joseph Smith of the county of and aforesaid, of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said and Susan his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand five hundred dollars, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said Joseph Smith his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the County of in the State of , viz:
Beginning at a post on the E. & W. Centre Line of sec (5) five in T. 6 N. R. 8. W. from which a Black oak 20 S. 83¾o W. 19 & a Hickory 15 inches in diameter. bears North 56½o E. 30 Links, thence S. 89.o 35 min E. along said line 24. 63. chains to a post at N. E. Corner of said Qtr section from which a Burr oak 14 inches diameter bears N ¼o E. 151. Links distant; thence S. 0o 40. Min W. 40. 54 to a post in a mound. at ¼ sec. cor between sections 5 & 8: thence N. 89½o W. along sec Line 24. 63. chains to a stone then N. 0o 40 min W. to the place of beginning containing one hundred acres more of less, lying on the East side of said Quarter section.
Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, To Have and To Hold the above described premises unto the said Joseph Smith his heirs and assigns forever. And the said and Susan his wife, their heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said Joseph Smith his heirs and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Testimony Whereof, the said and Susan his wife of the first part, have hereunto set their hands and seals, the [p. 356]
