To All people to whom these Presents Shall come Greeting Know Ye that we & Dolly [Eaton Wightman] wife of said of the Town of County of & State of , For & in consideration of the sum of Five Thousand Dollars received to our full Satisfaction of Joseph Smith Sole Trustee in Trust for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. of the City of , , Do give grant bargain sell & confirm unto the said Joseph Smith Sole Trustee in trust for the Church of <Jesus Christ of> Latter Day Saints and his Successors in office forever the following described parcils or lots of Land Situated in the Town of County of Hancock & State of Illinois (Viz, Lot No. four in Block No. One, Blocks two & three Lots No. one two & three in Block No. Four, Block No Five, Lot No three in Block No Six. Lot No Two Three & Four in Block Seven Lots one Two & four in Block nine Block Ten Lot No Four & Two in Block Twelve, Lots one & four in Block Thirteen excepting eleven Rods on the west side of each of two last mentioned Lots, Lots Four in Block excepting Eleven Rods on the west Side, Lots three & four in Block Seventeen Lots one three, & four in Block Eighteen Block Nineteen Twenty Twenty one & Twenty Two Lots one & four in Block Twenty three excepting eleven Rods on the west side of each Two last mentioned Lots Also in the first addition to Block one Block Four two & three with the exception of eleven Rods on the west side of each of the four last mentioned Lots also Eighty Rods from the east side of the North East quarter of the South East quarter of Section Thirty one in Township No Six North and Range five west of the fourth principal Meridian,
To Have and To Hold the above bargained premises with the appertainances thereof unto him the said Joseph Smith Sole Trustee in Trust For the Church of <Jesus Christ of> Latter day Saints and his successors in office Forever to their own proper use and Behoof. And also I the said do for myself & my heirs executors and administrators covenant with the said Joseph Smith, and his Successors in office that at and until the ensealing these Presents I was well seized of these premises and as a good indefeasible Estate in fee simple and have good right to Bargain & sell the same in manner above written and that the same is free from all encumbrance whatsoever. And furthermore I the Said do by these presents bind myself and my heirs forever to warrant & defend the above bargained premises to him the Said Joseph Smith Sole Trustee in Trust for the Church of <Jesus Christ of> Latter Day Saints and his Successors in office against all lawful claims whatsoever & I the said Dolly Wightman do hereby remise release and forever unto the said Smith and his Successors in office all my right and title of Dower to the above described premises In Witness Whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this eighth day of December AD one thousand eight hundred and forty one
