Illinois of the first part and of the County of and state aforesaid of the second part Witnesseth that the said Joseph Smith, party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars, to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged do hereby grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of in the state of Illinois known and described as follows, to wit: a part of lot number three in Block number one hundred and twenty four of the City of beginning at the south East corner of said lot and running thence North the whole length of said lot thence West to the North west corner of said lot thence South Eighty feet and nine inches, thence East fifty feet, thence due South one hundred feet and nine inches, thence East one hundred and forty eight feet to the place of beginning together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns <forever. And the said Joseph Smith, party of the first part, his assigns and successors in office, the aforesaid premises, unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns—> against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever do and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents. [scilicet] I, a Justice of the Peace in and for the City of in said county, do certify that Joseph Smith, whose signature appears to the foregoing deed, and, who is personally known to me to be the person described in, and who executed the same, did acknowledge that he had executed the said conveyance for the uses and purposes therein mentioned.
