Single leaf measuring 6 x 7¾ inches (15 x 20 cm). The top edge of the document was unevenly cut; all other edges have the square cut of manufactured paper but are heavily worn. The document was trifolded horizontally and docketed on the verso of the second panel by Marcellus Cowdery: “Jesse Delano | Book Safes | $250.75”. It remained in a folded state for some time with other documents stacked on top of it and exposed to light, evidenced by the darkening of paper and coal dust on the middle panel.
This document was in the possession of church agents who purchased book safes from Jesse Delano in . Based on the docket by Cowdery, the invoice was in church possession by 1837, suggesting continuous institutional custody.
