I have this day Received your letter of the 16th inst. and have written to the Clerk of Dist court for the Dist of a to show a upon the Judg[men]ts against Lewis T. Jameson late a Capt in the Army to Mr Bates the atty for and also to show him an exemplification of said judgt:
Will you please write to me on the Receipt of this directed to , and inform me whether you will authorise me to accept of the proposition of Joseph Smith the Mormon prophet, communicated by you on the 17th of December 1842. the proposition is to secure the payment of the judgt upon real estate worth double the amount of the Judgment, upon the time for the payment of said Judgment of $521249/100 being extended so as to be paid in 4. equal annual installments.
