& Martha Harrington the above named grantors and acknowledged the signing and sealing of the above Deed to be their voluntary act for the use and purposes therein expressed. And the said Martha Harrington being examined by me separate and apart from her said , and the contents of the said Deed being fully made known to her upon such separate examination declared that she did voluntarily sign, seal and acknowledge the same, and that she is still satisfied therewith. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this fourteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three.[blank] J. P. Seal.

This Indenture, made and entered into on this first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-four, between and his wife, of the City of , Hancock County & State of Illinois of the one part, and James D. Miller of the same place of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said and his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of fifty Dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said James D. Miller his heirs and assigns forever all that parcel of Land or lot of Ground situated in and State of , and being contained in Lot three (3) Block three (3) of s first addition to , described as follows commencing at the centre of Ripley Street (which point is four rods south of the North West corner of the aforesaid Lot (no three thence South along the West Boundary of the aforesaid Lot ten rods and ten feet, thence East three rods, thence North ten rods and ten feet, intersecting the centre of Ripley Street, thence West along said centre, three rods to the place of beginning. Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, to have and to hold the above described premises unto the said James D. Miller his heirs and assigns forever, and the said and his wife, their heirs and assigns the aforesaid premises unto the said James D. Miller his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof the said and his wife party of the first part have hereunto set their names and affixed their seals the day and year above written.
