Know all men by these presents that we Robert Stewart and Nancy [Stewart] his wife of the County of and Territory of of the one part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto of the and aforesaid all that tract, piece, parcel or lot of land lying and being in the county of and State of , known as the East half of Lot No one on Block No twelve in & s second addition to . And the said Robert Stewart and his wife, party of the first part their heirs and assigns do hereby bind themselves unto the said and his heirs to warrant and forever defend said lot against the claims of any or all persons whomsoever. In testimony whereof we have set our hands and seals this fourth day of May one thousand eight hundred and forty-four.

I Justice of the peace of said do certify that Robert Stewart and Nancy his wife whose signatures appear to the within Deed and who is personally known to me to be the persons described in and who executed the same did acknowledge that they executed the said conveyance for the use and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Nancy his wife being by me examined separate from her said husband declared that she did and now doth assign the same for the purposes therein mentioned, without fear or coercion of her husband. Given under my hand this fourth day of May A. D. 1844

This Indenture made and entered into this the fourth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four between Thomas Stevens [Stephens] and Phebe Stevens [Stephens] his wife of the County of and State of of the one part, and Mary Darrow of the County of and Territory of of the other part Witnesseth, that the said Thomas Stevens and Phebe Stevens his wife for and in consideration of the sum of seventy five dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said Mary Darrow her heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land situated and being in the county of in the State of (to wit) commencing at the South East corner of Lots No Twenty nine (29) in Block No six (6) of s addition to thence West Fifteen rods, thence North Ten rods and fourteen feet, thence East fifteen rods, thence South Ten rods and fourteen feet to the place of beginning, containing one acre of land be the same more or less. Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said Mary Darrow her heirs and assigns forever and the said Thomas Stevens and Phebe his wife their heirs and assigns the [p. 148]
