This Indenture, made and entered into, This sixteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four between and Fanny [Hartshorn] his wife, of the county of Hancock and state of Illinois, of the one part, and George P. Dykes of the county of Hancock and state aforesaid, of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said and Fanny Hartshorn his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars, to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell convey, and confirm unto the said George P. Dykes his heirs and assigns for ever, all that part or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of Hancock in the state of Illinois, viz: commencing in the center of the Street at the North west corner of Lot No 12; in Block No 3, s addition to Nauvoo & also as the North East corner of a lot sold by to Holdridge, Thence East running eighty two feet and a half to land owned by Woodbury. Thence South one hundred and thirty nine feet to land owned by George P. Dykes Thence West to the centre of Wells street, thence North fifty nine feet to land owned by Holdridge.
Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or <in> any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said George P. Dykes, heirs and assigns for ever. And the said and Fanny Hartshorn his wife, their heirs and assigns, the aforesaid premises, unto the said George P. Dykes his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
In testimony whereof, the said and Fanny his wife of the first part, have here unto set their hands and seals, the day and year first above written.
