deed, and who are personally known to me, to be the same as described within and who executed the same did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance for the uses and purposes therein expressed; and that the sd Phebe Cole having been by <me> made known with the contents of the same and examined by me separate and apart from her sd acknowledged that she had executed the same and relinquished her right of dower to the same freely and voluntarily, without any compulsion on the part of her said . This Indenture, Made this the Eighth day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and forty three Between and Sarah [Phinney] Foster of the County of and State of of the first part, and Amos Davis of the County of and State of , Witnesseth, That the said & Sarah Foster for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred & ten Dollars, lawful money of the United States, to them in hand, well and truly paid by the said Amos Davis the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, release, convey and confirm unto the said Amos Davis and his heirs and assigns forever. A part of Lot four (4) in Block nineteen (19) in addition to , commencing on Mullholland Street one hundred & fifteen feet three inches from the South East corner of Lot four on Block nineteen aforesaid on the South line running thence West thirty five feet along the Street, thence North seventy five feet three inches, thence East seventeen feet, thence North to the Alley between lot one & four or on Lot one of Block aforesaid which is twelve feet wide thrown out by me for the convenience of all concerned, being about one hundred & ten (110) feet making thence East Eighteen feet, thence South to the place of beginning be the same more or less. And all the estate, right, title, interest, claim and demand, both at law and in equity of the same the said & Sarah Foster of, in, and to the said premises, and every part thereof: Together with all and singular, the privileges and appurtenances, to the same belonging, or in any wise appertaining; and the rents, issues, and profits thereof: To have and to hold, the said premises hereby bargained, and sold, or meant or intended so to be, with the appurtenances, to the only proper use and behoof of the said Amos Davis and his heirs and assigns forever. And the said & Sarah Foster for themselves and for their heirs, executors, and administrators do promise, covenant and agree, to and with the said Amos Davis and his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, that before the ensealing and delivery hereof they were the true and lawful owners of the premises hereby granted, and had good right, full power, and lawful authority to sell and convey the same in manner [p. 23]
