To the honorable the city council in Session convened in .
your petitioner would humbly pray. that as the Nauvoo Ferry was chartered to Joseph Smith and to him only, and that at the death of the said Joseph Smith, the said charter became dormant or dead. <That> now your honorable body will renew the said charter with <the> same powers and privileges to your petitioner and as in duty bound he will ever pray.
