They then commenced their March from Carrol to carrying with them the Cannon which they had recieved from On their way they captured two , made them ride on the Cannon and taunted them as they went along, telling them that they were going to drive the mormons from to and from to Hell and that they should find no quarters but at the Cannons Mouth, The Mob at this time was reported to number about 400 strong. The Mormons in these distresses in pursuance of the Laws of made application to the Circuit Judge of that Circuit for protection and for the aid of <for> the aid of the Officers of the Law to protect the Majestry. as they have been informed and believe gave an order to to call out the Militia to protect the Mormons against the fury of the Mob. thereupon gave [p. 20]
