Biography

9 May 1817–23 Apr. 1882. Clerk, saddler, laborer, baggage master. Born at Saco, York Co., Maine. Son of Edward Millikin and Hannah Andrews. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ca. 1835. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, by 1837. Moved to Missouri, 1838. Served as drummer boy at skirmish at Crooked River, near Ray Co., Missouri, 25 Oct. 1838. Moved to Commerce (later Nauvoo), Hancock Co., Illinois. Married JS's sister Lucy Smith, 4 June 1840, at Nauvoo. Appointed second lieutenant in Nauvoo Legion, Apr. 1841. Member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge. Supported James J. Strang as successor to JS, 1846, at Nauvoo. Moved to Knoxville, Knox Co., Illinois; to Hancock Co., 1850; and to Colchester area, McDonough Co., Illinois, by 1860. Received into Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 8 Apr. 1873. Died at Colchester.
