Biography

1 July 1800–17 July 1861. Farmer, merchant, postmaster. Born in Paris, Oneida Co., New York. Son of Isaac Beebe and Olive Soule. Moved to Chardon, Geauga Co., Ohio, by 1820. Married Submit Rockwell Starr, 19 Nov. 1823. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ordained an elder, by June 1831. Moved to Jackson Co., Missouri, Sept. 1831. Served mission to Illinois, Indiana, Michigan Territory, and Ohio, 1832. Ordained a high priest by Oliver Cowdery, 5 Oct. 1832, in Independence, Jackson Co. Clerk of church conference held at Jackson Co., 26 Sept. 1833. Moved near Fishing River, Clay Co., Missouri, 1833. Member of Zion high council in Clay Co., 1834. Appointed to serve mission to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, 1834. Moved to what became Caldwell Co., Missouri, ca. 1836. Served on Zion high council in Far West, Caldwell Co., 1837–1838. Moved to Daviess Co., Missouri; to Clinton Co., Missouri, 1838; and to Montrose, Lee Co., Iowa Territory, Mar. 1839. Excommunicated, 1841. Moved to Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, by 1850. Acting justice of the peace, 1857, at Mills Co., Iowa. Presided over branch of Alpheus Cutler’s Church of Jesus Christ, 1859, at Farm Creek (later in Henderson), Mills Co. Appointed to high council of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 6 Apr. 1860, in Amboy, Lee Co., Illinois. Moved to Mud Creek (later Anderson Township), Mills Co., by 1860. Moved to Farm Creek, by 1861.
