26 Dec. 1806–after 1870. Farmer, auctioneer. Born in Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. Son of Charles Allen and Mary. Married first Eliza Tibbits, ca. 1832. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Moved to Independence, Jackson Co., Missouri. Tarred and feathered during mob violence in Jackson Co., July 1833. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, by 1841. Received elder’s license, 22 Feb. 1841, in Nauvoo. Appointed quartermaster sergeant in Nauvoo Legion, May 1842. Member of Nauvoo high priests quorum, by Dec. 1845. Moved to what became Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, by May 1850. Married second to Rebecca Winslow by Orson Hyde, 19 May 1850, in Pottawattamie Co. Married third Sarah Gaylord, 28 June 1856, in Pottawattamie Co. Resided in Council Bluffs, 1870.
