10 Jan. 1797–after 1876. Carpenter, farmer, newspaper publisher, day laborer. Born in Lebanon, Grafton Co., New Hampshire. Son of Andrew Hazen Aldrich and Annes. Moved to Dorchester, Grafton Co., by 1810. Married first Betsey Manchester, 28 Oct. 1819, in Bath, Grafton Co. Moved to Ryegate, Caldedonia Co., Vermont, by 1820. Married second Polly Hand, 1827. Belonged to Congregationalist church. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Orson Pratt or Lyman E. Johnson, 1832, near Bath. Ordained an elder by Orson Pratt, 4 July 1832, in Bath. Ordained a high priest by Orson Pratt or Lyman E. Johnson, 8 June 1833, in Bath. Participated in Camp of Israel expedition to Missouri, 1834. Substituted on Clay Co., Missouri, high council, 1834. Ordained a seventy and appointed a president of First Quorum of the Seventy, 28 Feb. 1835, in Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio. Served mission to New York and New England, 1835. Served mission to New York, Vermont, and Lower Canada, 1836–1837. Excommunicated, Dec. 1837, in Kirtland. Affiliated with James J. Strang’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1846, and with James Brewster’s Church of Christ, 1848–1853. Migrated to California, 1853. Moved to El Monte, Los Angeles Co., California, by 1860.
