Biography
Ca. 1807–after 1880. Farmer, military officer, sheriff, real estate agent, hatter. Born in Tennessee. Married first Nancy McGhee, 22 Apr. 1828, in Knox Co., Tennessee. Resided in Knoxville, Knox Co., 1830. Moved to Richmond, Ray Co., Missouri, by 1835. Ray Co. treasurer, 1835–1836. Member of board of trustees, 1835, at Richmond. Brigadier general in Missouri militia. Served in “Mormon War,” 1838. Moved to California, 1849. Married second Louise, ca. 1854, in California. Married third Sarah Miller, 7 June 1858, at Analy (later in Sebastopol), Sonoma Co., California. Moved to Bodega, Sonoma Co., by 1860. Married fourth Louisa McDonald, 23 June 1865. Served intermittently as sheriff and deputy sheriff, 1865–1880, at Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co. Patient at Sonoma County Hospital, 1880.
