Biography
12 Nov. 1797–27 July 1862. Stockman. Born at Orange Co., North Carolina. Son of Thomas Burton Nelson and Martha Williams. Married Mary (Polly) B. Roundtree, 4 July 1825, in Illinois. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by 1838, when he moved to Daviess Co., Missouri. Involved in election-day brawl at Gallatin, Daviess Co., 6 Aug. 1838. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, by Nov. 1843; to Itasca, Johnson Co., Illinois, by Nov. 1846; to Jefferson Co., Illinois, by June 1850; to Burnet Co., Texas, by Feb. 1857; and to Kerr Co., Texas, by June 1862. Died at Spring Creek, Kerr Co.
