Biography
27 Mar. 1796–20 June 1862. Tailor, weaver, police magistrate, politician, alderman. Born in Dublin, Ireland. Son of Patrick Clark and Bridget. Immigrated to U.S., 1818, and settled in Philadelphia. Member of Society of Weavers, 1827. Appointed alderman of Kensington, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania, 1833, by Governor George Wolf. Controller of public schools. Director of Manufacturers and Mechanics Bank. Office was attacked by anti-Irish Catholic rioters, 9 May 1844. Died in Philadelphia.
