Biography
14 May 1805–23 May 1892. Farmer, wheelwright, rancher. Born in Buncombe Co., North Carolina. Son of William Whitaker and Mary Carmada (Carmades). Married first Melinda Fishel, 1 Feb. 1824. Moved to Missouri, 1834. Wife died, Jan. 1836. Married second Nancy Woodland, 6 Jan. 1838. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Aug. 1838. Moved to Commerce, Hancock Co., Illinois, by 1840. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley with William Snow/Joseph Young pioneer company, arriving Oct. 1850. Settled in North Willow Creek (later Willard), Box Elder Co., Utah Territory. Died in Willard.
