Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 22 Apr. 1840. Member of Philadelphia branch, 1840. Married first Julia Sheaf, 31 Dec. 1840, in Philadelphia. Moved to Pittsburgh, by 1842. Married second Catharine Turman, 15 Jan. 1844, in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois. Moved to Waynesboro, Franklin Co., Pennsylvania, by 1850; to Carlisle, Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, by 1870; and to Havana (later Montour Falls), Schuyler Co., New York, by 1880.
