Hammond, John
Biography
22 July 1795–27 Dec. 1858. Farmer. Born in Chelmsford, Essex, England. Son of George Hammond and Susannah Camp. Married Lovica Parker, 15 Dec. 1819. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1836. Immigrated to U.S.; settled in Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, 1837. Ordained an elder, 22 Oct 1837. Moved to western Illinois, eventually settling in Golden’s Point, Hancock Co., Illinois. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley, arriving 10 Oct. 1849. Ordained a high priest, 2 June 1850. Died in South Cottonwood, Salt Lake Co., Utah Territory.
