Seymour, John Strong
Biography
15 May 1803–13 Feb. 1891. Merchant, manufacturer, land developer, traveling salesman. Born in Litchfield, Litchfield Co., Connecticut. Son of Moses Seymour and Mabel Strong. Moved to Painesville, Geauga Co., Ohio, by Nov. 1836. Plaintiff in case of Seymour & Griffith v. Rigdon and JS. Moved back to Litchfield, after Oct. 1840. Married Rachel E. Wetmore, 26 Dec. 1853, in Litchfield. Moved to Davenport, Scott Co., Iowa, before Sept. 1856. Served as city alderman, 1865–1867, in Davenport. Returned to Painesville, after 1885. Died at Painesville.
