Biography
28 July 1813–2 Feb. 1900. Seamstress, weaver. Born at Lebanon, Grafton Co., New Hampshire. Daughter of Joseph Smith Sr. and Lucy Mack. Moved to Norwich, Windsor Co., Vermont, 1813; to Palmyra, Ontario Co., New York, 1816–Jan. 1817; and to Manchester, Ontario Co., 1825. Reported hearing JS’s recitals concerning heavenly visitations and reported lifting gold plates. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by David Whitmer, ca. 9 June 1830, at Seneca Lake, Seneca Co., New York. Lived at The Kingdom, unincorporated settlement near Waterloo, Seneca Co., Nov. 1830. Migrated to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, May 1831. Married first to Wilkins Jenkins Salisbury by Sidney Rigdon, 8 June 1831, at Kirtland. After marriage, settled at Chardon, Geauga Co., 1831. Stockholder in Kirtland Safety Society. Left Ohio for Far West, Caldwell Co., Missouri, May 1838. Fled Missouri; located near present-day Bardolph, McDonough Co., Illinois, Feb. 1839. Moved to Plymouth, Hancock Co., Illinois, by 1843; to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., by 1845; to Alexandria, Clark Co., Missouri, spring 1846; to Warsaw, Hancock Co., late 1846; and to Webster, Hancock Co., fall 1847. Husband died, 28 Oct. 1853, in Plymouth. Married second Joseph Younger, 3 May 1857, in Hancock Co. Received into Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1873, based on original baptism. Died at Fountain Green, Hancock Co.
