10 Dec. 1816–17 Feb. 1882. Merchant, realtor, lawyer, justice of the peace, notary public, U.S. commissioner. Born in Oswego, Oswego Co., New York. Son of James Adams and Harriet Denton. Married Margery Ann Reed, 1 Mar. 1847, in Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois. Ran real estate business with Thomas Lewis, 1851. Served as justice of the peace, by 1857, in Springfield. Died in Springfield.
