23 Mar. 1758–17 Nov. 1835. Farmer. Born at Smithfield, Providence Co., Rhode Island. Son of Preserved Harris and Martha Mowry. Married Rhoda Lapham, before 1781. Lived at Cambridge, Charlotte Co., New York, 1781. Resided in Easton, Albany Co., New York, 1783. Moved to area of Swift’s Landing (later in Palmyra), Ontario Co., New York, 1793. Lived at Palmyra, 1800–1830. One of five to whom JS gave Martin Harris permission to show 116 pages of Book of Mormon transcription, 1828. Died at Mentor, Geauga Co., Ohio.
