Saxton, Noah Chapin
Biography
25 Jan. 1798–23 June 1834. Evangelist, Christian newspaper editor. Born in Wilbraham, Hampden Co., Massachusetts. Son of Noah Saxton and Patty Bliss. Graduated from Union College in Schenectady, Schenectady Co., New York, 1818. Received preacher license, Oct. 1819. Evangelized in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. Moved to New York City, by 1830. First editor of New York Evangelist, 1830. Moved to Rochester, Monroe Co., New York, 1832. Editor of American Revivalist, and Rochester Observer, 1832–1833. Returned to Wilbraham, 1833. Died at Wilbraham.
